CHAPTER LEADERSHIP CHAPTER COMMITTEES (PART 2 of 2)

This article is the sixth in a series for the next year outlining the roles and responsibilities of our Chapter leadership (Board Members and Committees).  We encourage all our members to consider a leadership role in our Chapter. The experience is rewarding and your help is greatly appreciated.

STANDING CHAPTER COMMITTEES

The standing committees of the Grand Rapids CSI Chapter include the following:

    • Programs
    • Expo
    • Golf
    • Scholarship
    • Membership
    • Communications
    • Certification
    • Awards 

Last month we described the work of the first four committees.  This month we will look at our last four current standing committees.

Membership Committee: Responsible for maintaining records, new membership, and retaining membership

  • Maintain records of the chapter membership for board meeting reports with Institute software
  • New membership – Welcoming, on boarding and recognizing new chapter members
  • Retaining membership – Communicating with chapter members on renewals
  • Provide membership information to Communications Committee for publishing in newsletter

Communications Committee: Responsible for oversite of chapter public communication medias including newsletter and website

  • Publishing monthly newsletter (9-10 issues per year), contributions made by various chapter members
  • Working with chapter webmaster to maintain website content
  • Coordinating events communications (programs, expo, golf outing, certification training)
  • Exploring and implementing other possible social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)

Certification Committee: Responsible for oversite and coordination of the CSI certification program

  • Oversite and coordination of chapter sponsored CSI certification training programs (CDT, CCS, CCCA, and CCPR)
  • Working with training program leaders
  • Maintaining understanding of current CSI certification programs and training materials
  • Provide information to Communications Committee for publishing in newsletter

Awards Committee: Responsible for recognizing members at Institute, Regionals and Chapter levels

  • Annual awards programs at Institute, Regionals and Chapter levels
  • Soliciting nominations for Institute, Regionals and Chapter awards
  • Recommending nominations for board approval
  • Submission of nominations at Institute, Regionals and Chapter levels
  • Implementation and coordination of the chapter awards program
  • Provide information to Communications Committee for publishing in newsletter

 

These committees serve our members, guests and the local design and construction community. Board members are our Chairs and Liaisons to the committees. But these programs cannot be run by a single person, they need the help of many. If you are interested in participating on any of these committees, please contact any board member and we can direct you to the Committee Chairs.
