Hello to all of you in the CSI Grand Rapids Chapter.  I am Gregg Jones and your new Chapter President as of July 1st.  I am looking forward to leading our chapter for the next year.  We have a very strong board and membership.  And together we will do some great things over the next year.

One of my other duties in the chapter is the Awards Chair. At this time of the year I prepare our submission for the Institute’s Outstanding Chapter Commendation (OCC) Award. This is a summary of the basic expectations of a chapter, accomplishments and a chance to pat yourself on the back.  And that we should do.  We had a great FY 2016 thanks to all of you. Here is a brief summary of our accomplishments:

  • We held 7 regular chapter meetings with a variety of interesting subjects
  • The 2015 Design and Construction Expo had over 600 attendees, 80 booths and 6 CEU programs
  • Our golf outing this year was attended by 72 golfers, raised over $5000 for scholarships, and we awarded 3 student scholarships
  • Our newsletter the “Rapid City Ramblings” was published monthly and won a CSI Great Lakes Region publication award
  • Two CDT certification classes were offered in the spring with 40 participants total, 19 have passed to date (congratulations to all of you)
  • Gary Beimers won the CSI Great Lakes Region Bud Reed Memorial Award
  • And our board favorite – we have started a new and exciting webpage (www.csigrandrapids.org)!

I am anticipating another great year in 2017.
