This article is the first in a series for the next year outlining the roles and responsibilities of our Chapter leadership (Board Members and Committees). So what/who does our Grand Rapids CSI Chapter leadership consist of?
PART 1 – THE BOARD
Per the Chapter Bylaws, our governing Chapter Board includes the following members – Chapter President, President-Elect, Secretary, Treasurer, four Directors, and the Immediate Past President. The Executive Committee includes the Chapter President, President-Elect, Secretary, and Treasurer. The Board meets monthly, generally before Chapter meetings, to discuss the business and activities of the Chapter. We generally have a planning session at the beginning of the fiscal year (July-June). Board members are encouraged to attend the annual Great Lakes Regional Conference in May for leadership training. Costs to attend are supplemented through Chapter funds. Most board members also hold committee roles. More of the individual roles, responsibilities and terms of board members will be outlined in future articles.
PART 2 – THE COMMITTEES
The committees that support the work of our chapter and CSI include – Programs, Membership, Expo, Golf Outing/Scholarship, Certification, Communications and Awards. Other committees we are looking at establishing include – Student Chapter Liaison and Affiliate Liaison. Most Committee Chairs are board members, so we have a direct connection between the work of the board and the committees. Most of these committees cannot be run by the Chair alone. It takes the volunteer help of many others with an interest in the work of the particular committees. More details about the work of these committees again will be outlined in future articles.
We encourage all our members to consider a leadership role (Board or Committees) in our Chapter. The experience is rewarding and your help is greatly appreciated. If you are interested in a leadership role in our chapter, please contact me at email@example.com
Next month’s article will be on the Chapter President.
