Parting Shot (this is my last Prez message you know)
I have had the pleasure of watching 2 Key Events for CSI Grand Rapids being chaired and enthusiastically embraced by two of our board members, Jeff Murphy (golf and scholarship) and Jay VanDuren (expo). They have put together fantastic committees to make this all happen. The golf event is our ‘Jim Hojnacki’ Scholarship Golf Outing being held this month at Thornapple Point Golf Club and the expo event is the 2016 West Michigan Design & Construction Expo being held October 27, 2016 at the Pinnacle Center in Hudsonville, Michigan. These 2 events generate monies to fund scholarships for our next generation of construction professionals and to keep our chapter strong and moving forward.
GOLF – I am not going to say much about the golf outing since Jeff has used other real estate in this newsletter for the event that will happen soon. Thank you to all of the supporters this year. Hole sponsors and golf teams this year will make it a good year next year for students.
EXPO – Enthusiasm and commitment have come together to produce awesome results for this year’s West Michigan Design & Construction Expo.
There is space for 70 exhibitors. Large enough to offer great variety, but small enough to make it a personal/intimate experience where you can get to know and network with others in our construction community. An event where the Architects/Engineer team, Supplier team, Contractor team and Owner team come together in one venue.
An event that also includes WMD&C sponsors, including those who are exhibitors and also those who are only sponsors but want to say “we support what is being done in the West Michigan construction community.
To round out the ‘something for everyone’ goal of the WMD&C Expo, an opportunity for all attending includes several continuing education classes, some with Continuing Education Units (CEU), others as general presentations or roundtable discussions.
There have been close to 600 attending this event for the past number of years and the show provides an excellent opportunity for exposure into the West Michigan Construction scene.
Join Jay and his team from the Grand Rapids Chapter of the Construction Specifications Institute and the Builders Exchange of West Michigan as they bring you the BEST construction related event in the Grand Rapids area.
Thank you specifically Jeff and Jay for a job well done. And also to the rest of the board committees for making this a fantastic FY 2016.
