Fall is now behind us and the holidays are here, Wow where did November go!
CSI Grand Rapids has just celebrated its 50th Anniversary as a chapter. The celebration took place at the Thousand Oaks Golf Course where we hosted nearly 50 folks from industry our chapter as well as several that travelled from out of State. It was an enjoyable evening with Jim Hojnacki the chapter historian sharing much of the great history of the chapter as well as naming the founding members. Gregg Jones shared the many awards that our chapter has achieved including Outstanding Chapter and Outstanding Newsletter Publication. Ken Schmidt from the Indianapolis Chapter and our Region President spoke on the challenges of bringing in the next generation of youth to the chapters and had some praise for our history of being a strong chapter. I was very proud to hear members sharing their memories and to see all the familiar faces from over the years. Grand Rapids Chapter has a lot to be proud of.
We want to recognize our partnership with GRBX and the West Michigan Design and Construction Expo. We had an excellent show this year with great educational programs managed by our AIA partners. Thank you to our sponsors, attendees, and all the great exhibitors for your contribution to the show. We give a huge thank you to Elizabeth Bovard and her team at GRBX as we part ways, and as CSI will be managing and hosting the Expo on our own as we have in the past. This highly successful partnership has lasted nearly 8 years and GRBX has truly done most of the heavy lifting.
With the holidays upon us we all have a great deal to be thankful for as we are truly blessed in West Michigan with a great community, a thriving and diverse economy, and excellence in the design and construction community. I am proud to be a participant in this great little American City called Grand Rapids Michigan. Have a safe and happy holidays and enjoy the season because January 1st as they say we start all over again chasing projects.
